Stop F**king Talking

I got this comment on a relatively innocuous post last week. Normally, I just delete those kinds of comments, but this one I felt deserved some discussion.

While the profile name is "Anon," it links to a blogfrom 2008 which contains some stories about life as an EMT. I can't be sure who it is, but I can say that Noah Smith was an EMT in 2008, and Noah Smith has certainly previously expressed a desire for me to say less.

I was, actually, about to stop talking. Well, not entirely, but the 28 days was almost up, and I had some other things I wanted to put my time to. Focus on my family a bit more. Put more time into ConCardia. Spend more time around town.

There were two more posts of any substance in the pipeline, which you'll be seeing tomorrow and the next day, and then I would have wrapped it up and gone back to talking about philosophy and networking and business stuff.

But then, this happened...

The negative feedback appears to have been a handful of emails, but the Downtown Waltham Partnership is basically a business association. They have no stomach for controversy, and certain people who wish only to see the world burn know that.

We lose an event (and get back a free weekend, which is nice), Watch City Steampunk Festival loses a few hundred dollars, and dozens of ConCardia players lose the chance to play the game they enjoy.

This tells me that I clearly have not been talking enough, and clearly 28 days was not enough time to say everything that needed to be said.

And there were some things I wasn't talking about. I felt that things were calming down and we didn't need to go there. Apparently I was mistaken. The small group of individuals who insist on spreading lies would like to hear more truth, and I am happy to oblige.

I had decided not to run an article about the allegations against Jeff Mach and the details that most people don't know which greatly change the perspective, but that appears to be necessary.

I wasn't going to talk about how certain people had taken advantage of the mantle of victimhood to bully and abuse others, but that appears to be necessary.

I wasn't going to talk about the fact that most of the people attacking the Steampunk community are not, in fact, Steampunks, some never having even attended a Steampunk event, but that appears to be necessary.

You say "stop fucking talking?"

I haven't even started talking yet.
