Jeff Mach has stepped back from Dark Side of the Con and will not be attending or participating.
We know there has been some recent controversy regarding him but our personal experiences with him have been very professional and friendly and we think he has done some great things for the new jersey convention community. Last year's Dark Side Of the Con was a great success and everyone was taken care of properly without complaints. As always anything that VampireFreaks is involved with we take great pride in and we ofcourse make sure that Dark Side of the Con is professionally and safely run and we've put a lot of time and effort into putting this con together for you. We've been doing event promotions for over 15 years and we really appreciate the support that we have always gotten from the alternative community. Together we're going to have a great time and we look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!
Jeff personally may be “stepping away” but he is still owner of the LLC that is the parent company to the ever name changing DBA’s. Therefore he WILL profit.
ReplyDeleteI'm signed up as vendor for DSotC, and I've been debating if I still want to attend. It doesn't seem likely. Even putting aside all concerns about the organizers and this whole situation, I'm certain attendance is going to be affected, and I barely broke even last year....

DeleteSo I finally got the confirmation code to reserve my room for DSotC on March 1st (I was going to be room vending) and it came from a Travis Packer, Vending Assistant, Silver Phoenix Society. I thought that SPS wasn't going to be involved with it? At least according to that list of questions they answered.

I replyed to the email today to let them know I wasn't coming, and got auto reply messages saying that their emails (Travis Packer and Eddie B, who was cc'd and listed as Head of Vending) had changed. Which made sense, the email had been sent from an @jeffmachevents.com address. So I sent the message to the new ones supplied, @silverphoenixsociety.com, except that came back as invalid! So... Yeah, wtf?
