The Wicked World's Fair - one of the videos

I want to shout-out all the vendors who are making information public regarding the failure of Wicked Worlds Fair. You all found yourselves in a very bad situation and you are taking control of it. I'm sorry that no one warned you before you got involved with JM but I am so glad to see you all raising awareness!

This is the most enlightening video with the best angle that I've seen. Many thanks to "The Nail in the Coffin" for posting the original. I apologize for the screen recording.

Evil Expo June 2023

On Thursday, May 18th, JM posted:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Evil Expo Villain Convention POSTPONED
The Evil Expo Villain Convention, scheduled to take place this summer, has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. The hotel that was to host the event has refused to honor key parts of the contract, making it impossible to provide the experience that our guests deserve.
We are currently looking for a new venue that can provide the necessary facilities and amenities to make the event a success. We are aiming to reschedule the event towards the end of summer or early fall.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding. We look forward to seeing you at the rescheduled event.
For more information, please contact us at info@evilexpo.com.

However, the most recent post on the Evil Expo Facebook page is from May 11th, announcing a new performer. No update as to postponement.

Also as of May 22nd, the EventBrite page is still up and one can still purchase tickets:

Please be careful out there, friends.

**update May 23rd: there is a "report event" link on the EventBrite page where you can let them know the event is cancelled.

EE update and "Itz-a-Con 2021" / COVID19 reminders

 A few reminders:

JM is running a PA-based "Evil Expo" this July.

Facebook event

Itz-a-Con 2021 (part of/in conjunction with EE)

Covid-19 reminders:

https://www.pa.gov/guides/responding-to-covid-19/

Gathering limits are still in place (as of 4/7/21), 25% maximum occupancy, regardless of venue size, and only if attendees and workers are able to comply with the 6-foot physical distancing requirement.

If you are so inclined, PA has a public health complaint form to report businesses if they are not in compliance. With 500+ people listed as "going" on the FB event, I am not sure of the limits of the location.

In my opinion, non-essential social gatherings are in poor form and show a lack of regard for the health and safety of communities.

SOCIAL RESTRICTIONS
  • Gathering limits in place:
    • Indoor events: 25% of maximum occupancy, regardless of venue size and only if attendees and workers are able to comply with the 6-foot physical distancing requirement
    • Outdoor events: 50% of maximum occupancy, regardless of venue size and only if attendees and workers are able to comply with the 6-foot physical distancing requirement
  • Face coverings are required to be worn indoors and outdoors if you are away from your home

Interviewed at EE; vilified for calling the cops on a classmate

This is really the type of person who is glorified by JM and EE 2021:

A black Yale graduate student took a nap in her dorm’s common room. So a white student called police

When Siyonbola asked them about the complaint, one officer said, “She called us (and) said there’s somebody who appeared they weren’t … where they were supposed to be.”

This allegedly wasn’t the first time this white Yale student called the cops on a person of color

“The individual then began talking over me and called me an intruder even though I told her I was a lost Yale student waiting on assistance from a friend, hoping to attend a meeting,” Jean-Louis’ post states. “She continued to verbally assault me from the twelfth floor claiming that I ‘didn’t belong here’ and I was making her ‘uncomfortable.’”

A black Yale student fell asleep in her dorm’s common room. A white student called police.

From Twitter:
"I love @ginacarano and @benshapiro to the ends of the Earth..."

I've played Fable. I get that it can be fun to burn down the village. But this was a racial incident that took place at Yale, an institution of higher learning, and one of the best in the country. I'm not saying that racial incidents don't happen in all places, because they do, but that isn't something to celebrate

Gina Carano's statement comparing being a conservative in the United States today to being Jewish in Nazi Germany is absolutely ridiculous and she deserved to not have her contract with Disney renewed. She's not someone to glorify.

I've attended multiple institutes of higher learning. I've visited friends at ones I don't attend. I've never been stopped and asked if I go there. I've never had the cops called on me for dozing off while doing schoolwork in any common space.

Even if you don't believe that JM is bad to do business with and bad to be in any sort of relationship with, do you really want to be on the side of someone who calls the cops on a classmate of color just for sleeping in the common room?

After all, some of us know what "Code Brown" over the radios at SPWF meant.

Blackthorne Resort question

Question for all, since EE 2021 will be "live" from Blackthorne Resort. What is the wifi like up there? It is a location in the northern Catskills, with a lot of outdoor space. Their site says "Free Wifi within the Main Lobby" so I am curious as to how JM thinks this event is going to work... unless, of course, it isn't, and there are no refunds (but tickets will be good for a summer event?).

EE Update (and reminder of business practices)

Evil Expo is now online for Feb 18-21... except the portion that will be live at Blackthorne Resort (https://www.blackthorneresort.com/covid-19-update/ states: "Gatherings of more than 50 people are not permitted.")...

Quote from the event page on FB

Evil Expo is The Villainpunk World’s Fair, the only multi-genre geek event devoted solely to live entertainment, discussions, panels, workshops, games, comedy, film, art, writing, creation, cosplay, and every aspect of science fiction/fantasy/comic/fandom Villainy!
Evil Expo Online is the standalone, self-contained, simultaneous digital Evil Expo convention. Because what’s the good of living in a dystopian future if you can’t cyberpunk your own event?
We hear you! You want to experience the unmitigated Villainous joys of Evil Expo, but you can’t be there in physical form. We understand! Many of our own guests will be there in non-corporeal formats. Some are spectral figures; some are malevolent artificial intelligences which exist only digitally; some of them simply enjoy life more when there’s a keyboard in front of them. We don’t judge.
Likewise, some of you have lairs on tropical paradise islands, and you don’t want to leave. Some of you are busy enjoying the lovely weather on Jupiter and don’t want to brave the New Jersey winter. Some of you are only on the astral plane, some of you are trapped in alternate universes by those damned heroes; some of you might just want to experience Evil Expo from the comfort of your own homes and/or secret laboratories.
And that’s how Evil Expo Online came about. In the last year, a time which has been pretty horrible for Villains and Heroes alike, we’ve gained at least one thing: We’ve learned the power of online connection. Evil Expo has a vast lineup, and many of our amazing guests are already telecommuting to the show; and we’ve got our own Villainous camera crew onhand to capture our fair share of the scoundrel that’s about to ensue!
EVIL EXPO ONLINE IS GOING TO BE THE MOST FUN YOU CAN HAVE ON THE INTERNET WITHOUT HACKING DIRECTLY INTO SKYNET! (Please don’t hack into Skynet; we don’t want the Robot Apocalypse until after the event is over.)
GOOD NEWS FOR ONLINE ATTENDEES!
We’ll be broadcasting a livestream all weekend long, every hour that the Event is open. While it’s impossible to capture this much Villainy all at once (even if you were attending in person, you simply do NOT have enough clones to take in the whole event. Trust us. We’ve tried)—we’ll be bringing you an entire weekend of entertainment. Visit the rest of the website to get a feel for the things you’ll be able to see and do.
Vendors! Performers! Speakers! Gamers! Creators! Entertainers! Art! Books! Humor! Readings! DON’T MISS THE VILLAINPUNK EVENT OF THE CENTURY!
You’ll be able to enjoy tons of our guests, including many of our Guests of Honor. We’ll be broadcasting at least one of our stages continuously, plus special digital-only content, plus online chats and meet-and-greets.
WHY DO EVIL EXPO ONLINE?
Come on. Which would YOU rather take over One part of one country…or the entire World?
We know: You’re a Villain. So you want (and deserve!) to rule the World, and not just one small place. ESPECIALLY if that place is New Jersey.
Get your tickets now! For a limited time we’re doing HUGE discounts on all the online tickets. Evil Expo is the most incredible Villainpunk event in the known Multiverse.
COME BE A PART OF IT! Get tickets here!

The website still shows in-person tickets:

As does the Facebook event page:

Rumor has it that the in-person event will be in August instead of February, and all tickets for Feb will be accepted then. There are, of course, no refunds.
