Katsucon

I'm sure my readers are already aware, but Katsucon is cancelled this year. This is the best way to handle the pandemic situation. Please support them when they return!

A message from all of us at Katsucon!

Text:
As we head into this weekend, we know everyone is missing the excitement and joy that Katsucon normally brings this time of year.
Trust us, we know the feeling.
As you know this is the first time in 27 years we won’t be together to appreciate the elaborate cosplays, shop the vendors and artists ready to help with our normal and obscure anime shopping needs or just roam the Great Halls of the Gaylord National Convention Center trying to make it from panel to panel and hunt down Guest signatures.
We’ll miss the confused looks of random tourists as a horde of Wizards storm the Nandos.
We’ll miss the impromptu 3AM Beyblades battles in a discarded Captain America shield.
We’ll miss enjoying the amazing National Harbor and the local areas restaurants and shops. (Ok maybe just Nandos)
We’ll miss the inside jokes, the late night snacks, the mysterious teeth and the Sunday morning severe dehydration.
We’ll even miss that damn Gazebo.
Most of all we’ll miss our friends and our Con families.
For those of us behind the scenes this weekend is typically the culmination of thousands of hours of dedicated work carried out by our entirely volunteer staff and department heads, spread out all over the country.
Without Katsucon we’re deeply missing the collaboration among friends and peers that occurs in all the planning of programming, dances, and Guest events that we are all so passionate about.
We know it's hard to look at your suitcases this weekend and not wonder just how many cosplays you could fit into it or to find yourself thinking logistically how you could get 14 foot wings into a car packed with 7 people.
We know it's disappointing not to be able to show off the pneumatic claws you made or the cute cape you poked your hands over and over trying to sew.
This past year has definitely flipped our world and culture all around.
But rest assured... we will be back.
Like a Phoenix, we will rise from the ashes and come back bigger, better, and safer for #Katsucon2022!
We will miss seeing all of you; our biggest fans.
Please continue to stay safe and stay tuned for updates and announcements throughout the year.
