From a person who ran Philly Renfaire pre-2020
1. I am not involved in the current iteration of the Philly Renfaire.
2. The current owners engaged in legal but underhanded tactics to gain control of the Faire, shutting me out.
3. The current ownership of the Faire involves multiple humans with allegations of sexual impropriety towards them, and at least one human who is known to be as a white supremacist.
4. Last year, they tried to engage in negotiations with me to not say anything, and tried to convince me that they had changed in their behaviors, and I engaged in good faith. As soon as they ended their event, they ceased negotiations with me.
I have a friend who is scheduled to work at the Philly Ren Faire, so hearing these accusations is pretty shocking to me. I do feel like if there's a white supremacist who is part OWNER of the event, I'd like to be able to pass on more specifics to my friend rather than a vague accusation. Can you elaborate?
ReplyDeleteOne of the current owners is the person who came up with the phrase "Code Brown" to refer to a Steampunk performer, who happens to be of Indian heritage.
DeleteHonestly, I'd steer clear of the Faire as long as all (I believe three) people are in charge of running it.
